Free WiFi Zones

Getting online with Spark WiFi

To connect to Spark WiFi, you will first need to be within range of a Spark WiFi zone - Find a free WiFi Hotspot near you.

There are currently over 1000 WiFi zones operating throughout New Zealand. Each is marked with bright stickers which explain how to access the WiFi service. We are also part way through rolling out WiFi hotspots to our stores. This will give you even more places where you can get online for free.

Once you are within range of a WiFi zone, a connection named Spark WiFi will appear in your computer or mobile device's internet settings. Connect your device to the WiFi zone and register your mobile number. You'll then receive a text message from us with a pass code to get you surfing on the web.

Once you're signed up, you can download our free WiFi App to find the nearest WiFi Zone.

If you have any problems connecting, Troubleshooting will help you get online.

I've connected, but my speed is slow

Data speeds are dependant on how many people are accessing the same zone at the same time, what activity they are doing, how close you are to the zone, and your device. Some phone booths will have faster broadband access than others, so top speeds will vary by location. Fair use policy applies.

Note: If you manage to use 100% of your 1GB free WiFi allowance in any given day your phone will automatically revert back to cellular data. Depending on your plan type you could be charged at your normal data rates.
